Renewable energy company RES collaborates with solar PPA provider Alight to build 200-300 MW large scale solar projects in the central and southern parts of Sweden in the coming years.
As per the collaboration, both the companies will focus on accelerating the energy transition through multiple solar projects in the central and southern parts of Sweden. Together, they aim to build about 200-300 MW large scale solar projects in the coming years.
Echoing similar sentiments, Project Manager at RES Johan Roger said, "By developing more solar projects on the Swedish market we are contributing to the growth of the market as well as a larger diversity in renewable energy sources. As demand for green energy grows, we need to ensure a mix of complementary sources to meet that demand."
Solar in Europe's northern country Sweden is quickly growing. The aggregate grid connected solar power capacity of Sweden at the end of 2021 increased by more than 46% annually to reach a total of 1.59 GW. Sweden added 503.43 MW in 2021, according to the Swedish Energy Agency Energimyndigheten (see Sweden Installed 500 MW Solar In 2021).
With a track record of developing, constructing and operating renewable projects, RES has developed about 2.5 GW of solar globally, and is also active in innovative solar applications. Last year, RES Group had got permission to build France's 'largest' authorized floating PV facility (see 65.5 MW Floating Solar Plant In Europe)
