Sembcorp ventures into large-scale solar development in Indonesia with the NSSE power plant
The project has a 50 MW solar farm supported by a 14.2 MWh BESS
The project sprawls across 87 hectares of land
PT Sembcorp Renewables Indonesia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, has announced a partnership with PT PLN Nusantara Renewables, which is a 99%-owned subsidiary of PT PLN Nusantara Power, with the launch of the Nusantara Sembcorp Solar Energi (NSSE) Power Plant.
Spread over 87 hectares of land, the NSSE Power Plant is said to be the first utility-scale integrated solar and energy storage project in Nusantara, Indonesia. The project, comprising a 50 MW solar farm with a 14.2 MWh battery energy storage system, is Sembcorp’s inaugural venture into large-scale solar development in Indonesia.
Speaking about the project, Jen Tan, Head of Renewables (Singapore and Indonesia) at Sembcorp Industries, said, “Sembcorp is pleased to partner PLN in this project. Leveraging our experience, we will deploy advanced energy storage to pair with the latest solar technology in this landmark utility-scale project.”
The launch ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Mr. Prabowo Subianto, the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Sembcorp Utilities completed its maiden greenfield renewables development in the Middle East this month, with 588 MW installed capacity (see Middle East & Africa Solar PV News Snippets).
