  • Nexamp has entered a US-made solar module supply contract with Silfab Solar

  • Silfab will start delivering the initial 125 MW in late-Q2 2025

  • These modules will be exclusively produced at Silfab’s North Carolina fab with US-made cells

US community solar developer Nexamp has signed Silfab Solar to supply an undisclosed volume of US-made solar cells and modules for its projects, with deliveries starting from the end of Q2 2025.

Silfab Solar will produce these modules at its new South Carolina factory that has a capacity to produce 1 GW solar cells initially, and 1.3 GW of solar modules. It will start the shipment of the initial 125 MW in late Q2 2025.

Produced exclusively in the US, Silfab’s 580 XM+DCB solar module uses n-type solar cell technology targeted at large to small commercial applications. Silfab had been targeting the launch of the South Carolina fab by the end of 2024 in South Carolina’s Fort Mill.

“Our partnership provides Nexamp significant access to a superior U.S. solar product that enables them to further integrate domestic content into their project portfolios,” said Silfab President and CEO Paolo Maccario.

In November 2024, Silfab landed a $100 million financing for the South Carolina factory from ARC advised funds and Breakwall Capital (see Silfab Solar Lands $100 Million For US Solar Cell Manufacturing Plant).

For Nexamp, securing a US-made solar cell module supply is part of its strategy to secure a reliable domestic supply of high-quality modules and materials for its portfolio of projects in its construction pipeline, according to its CEO Zaid Ashai.

Nexamp has over 1 GW of renewable energy generating assets in operation or under construction in its portfolio. The US presence of Japan’s Fuyo General Lease will fund 350 MW of Nexamp’s community solar portfolio in Illinois and New York (see North America Solar PV News Snippets: Solar Leads New York’s Clean Energy Sector Jobs & More).
