  • Solar FlexRack has provided its TDP Turnkey Solar Trackers for a 1.2 MW agrivoltaic project in the US
  • The 1.2 MW project has been designed and built by Namaste Solar in Colorado as a community solar garden
  • Project will be studied by the NREL, and universities of Colorado and Arizona to see how solar and agricultural practices can complement and supplement each other

US based solar mounting and solar tracker solutions company  has supplied its solar trackers for what it calls as the largest agrivoltaic research project in the country with 1.2 MW capacity. It has supplied its TDP Turneky Solar Trackers for the Jack's Solar Garden project.

"Solar FlexRack's adaptable TDP Solar Trackers enabled Namasté Solar to overcome the challenge of installing the trackers at several different heights to test the impact of various amounts of shade and sunlight on crop growth, while still maximizing solar energy yield," explained Solar FlexRack.

Designed and built by an employee-owned cooperative based in Colodaro, Namaste Solar, the project is a community solar garden producing enough power for over 300 homes. Jack's Solar Garden will be studied by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Colorado State University and the University of Arizona to ascertain how best to grow wildflowers, pasture and prairie grasses, pollinator habitats, and crops as carrots, onions, tomatoes and squash.

Namaste Solar said it avoided the use of heavy equipment and gravel onsite to avoid impacting the native soil.

Solar FlexRack claims over 2.5 GW solar racking installations globally. The solar division of Northern States Metals (NSM), Solar FlexRack recently also announced it had settled the patent infringement lawsuit against it and the parent company by another US based tracker maker Nextracker. While it said the company entered into a confidential settlement agreement with Nextracker but 'denied that it ever infringed upon any of Nextracker's patent rights.

TaiyangNews is organizing a 1-day virtual conference on Solar Trackers on April 13, 2021 to discuss technology improvements in the field, intending it as a launch event for our 1st Market Survey on Solar Trackers. Registrations to the event are free here.
