Financial leasing company for solar with pan-Africa operations, Solarise Africa is expanding its operations in the continent under a partnership agreement with Centennial Generating Co., a solar and storage installer for commercial and industrial (C&I) facilities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The partnership will allow Solarise Africa to bring to its fold 7 projects in Rwanda to be set up for consumers in education, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, hospitality and agriculture sectors. It also gets 2 projects in Zambia and another project in Uganda.
Offering leasing and financial solutions, Solarise Africa says it specializes in captive rooftop and ground mounted solar projects ranging from 50 kW to 3 MW. It is currently active in 5 nations and aims to significantly expand its portfolio during 2021, aiming to reach out to clients offering financial solutions for solar systems and helping them lower their dependence on unstable power grid.
"By partnering with Solarise, we are offering both battery energy storage and solar projects to commercial and industrial facilities," said Centennial Founder and Managing Director John Frenkil. "These projects are fully financed with turnkey engineering and asset management services."
This follows Solarise Africa raising $10 million in Series B funding round in 2020 from French development finance institution Proparco and existing investors Energy Access Ventures (EAV) and EDFI ElectriFI. It plans to use the proceeds to fund project deployments and further increase market share in existing and new nations of operations.
