Spanish Group Secures Long-Term PPA In India

India’s State-Owned Utility Contracts Solarpack India For Gujarat Hybrid Solar & Wind Project

  • Solarpack has secured a 25-year PPA for a hybrid solar and wind energy project in India  
  • To be located in Gujarat, it comprises 383 MW of solar PV and 99 MW of wind energy capacity  
  • Power supply from the project to the offtaker SJVN is scheduled to commence from 2026 

Solarpack, the Spanish solar developer and operator of large-scale renewable energy projects, has expanded its India portfolio to 1 GW within H1/2024 after it won a long-term contract for a 482 MW hybrid wind and solar project. Its overarching target is to develop more than 5 GW of multi-technology renewable energy assets in India.  

State-owned national utility SJVN Limited has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solarpack for clean energy supply from the Ganeko Hybrid Project. Power supply will begin from 2026.  

Under the Ganeko project, it will build 383 MW of solar PV capacity and 99 MW of wind energy capacity in Gujarat.  

"Our focus is on meeting the specific needs of our customers while making a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions. This multi-technology project in India is an important contribution to help the country meet its energy transition goals," said Solarpack's Global CEO Leo Moreno.   

Currently, Solarpack operates 8 solar PV projects in India. With Gorbea, Antobo and now Ganeko projects, it has now won 1.3 GW of capacity with awarded PPAs in the country. Globally, its project portfolio comprises 14 GW of projects spread across 14 nations.
