  • Part of Solarcentury's pipeline, 3 of the 4 projects secured construction permits in December 2020, and it awaits the same for the 4th project

Norway headquartered renewable energy company Statkraft is accelerating the implementation of the company's Spanish solar portfolio by planning to break ground for 4 projects representing a combined capacity of 234 MW. Statkraft said it will be the EPC contractor for the construction of the project, and will also carry out operations and maintenance (O&M) as well as asset management services for 10 years from the time the projects are commissioned.

To be built for €200 million ($242 million), projects will be located in Cadiz region close to each other. It secured construction permits for 3 out of 4 planned solar parks in Cadiz, Malabrigo, El Yarte and Arenosas in December 2020 through Solarcentury which has now got merged within the group under the name Statkraft (see Statkraft To Acquire UK Solar Developer Solarcentury).

La Guita, the 4th park is scheduled to start construction in July 2021 once it secures final approval on the construction permit. The company has received environmental approval for this one.

For Spain that Statkraft considers as one of its most important solar energy markets, it has appointed Solarcentury's José Miguel Ferrer as the company's Spainsh CEO after its integration.

In this part of the world, Statkraft has under it a large solar pipeline through Solarcentury, and is also an active player through power purchase agreements (PPA). In February 2021, Statkraft signed a 5-year PPA with Aquila Capital for 50 MW Spanish solar project to supply to industrial consumers, while Solarcentury announced securing access permits for 320 MW PV here (see Statkraft Goes In For Another Solar Project in Spain).
