  • Low Carbon has contracted Trina Solar to supply its modules under a framework agreement
  • It includes supply of 1 GW capacity for the UK based company's near-term project build-out plans in the UK and Netherlands
  • Trina Solar will include the supply of its Vertex N i-TOPCon modules for the initial projects

Through a framework agreement with China's Trina Solar, UK based Low Carbon has secured supply of 1 GW solar PV modules for its near-term project build out plans in the UK and Netherlands, which also provides 'planning security for project pipelines' to the company.

Long-term framework agreements give companies investing in clean energy projects, such as Low Carbon, the ability to speed up follow-up orders, potentially locking in production volumes as required, stated Trina Solar.

Trina Solar plans to supply its Vertex N TSM-NEG19RC.20 modules based on 210mm n-type i-TOPCon cell technology for the initial projects. These modules offer a maximum power rating of 605W and up to 80% bifaciality with dual-glass use.

Low Carbon stands to gain from Trina Solar's 670W+ series of modules that come with a maximum efficiency of 21.6%, added the Chinese company.

A privately owned investment and asset management company, Low Carbon has currently deployed over 1 GW of renewable energy capacity including solar PV and extending to onshore and offshore wind, waste-to-energy, battery storage among others. It counts proprietary pipeline as exceeding 5 GW currently.

"The agreement with Trina Solar marks an important milestone for Low Carbon as we grow our international renewable energy portfolio," said Low Carbon's Director of Operations & Asset Management, Justin Thesiger.

Trina Solar recently discussed its n-type i-TOPCon solar module Vertex N during TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on Solar Module Innovations 2023 (see Exciting Updates Reported At TaiyangNews Innovations 2023 Conference).
