US solar tracker supplier GameChange Solar is expanding its domestic annual production capacity to 14 GW, with the addition of a 6 GW tracker tube line at an undisclosed location in the Midwest that will start operations in February 2023.

In a brief statement issued, the company said the fab will be a state-of-the-art, highly automated facility that will support its rapid growth in the US market.

"As our customers grow their business, GameChange is committed to continue to grow our substantial USA manufacturing base to allow for fast deliveries and flexibility in our supply chain," said GameChange Solar's Chief Commercial Officer Derick Botha.

The company has up to 30 GW of available production capacity for key systems, including 12 GW of Made in USA manufacturing capacity for key components ready to manufacture solar trackers and fixed tilt systems.

It also holds 12 GW manufacturing capacity in Wuxi, China that was established under a joint venture in 2019.

The tracker maker's announcement follows the news of consensus building on the US government's Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 that promises $369 million investment in energy, including incentives for local manufacturing (see US Senate Settles For $369 Billion Clean Energy Investment).

However, the demand for solar and clean energy in general has been building up the US in response to which manufacturers are keen to expand their local manufacturing footprint. Before GameChange Solar and before Senator Joe Manchin agreeing to the provisions of the above mentioned act, world leading solar tracker maker from the US Nextracker announced 3 solar tracker fabrication lines in the country, ensuring local steel supply for the same (see Steel Fab Reopens In US For Nextracker).
