1 GW Maharashtra Solar Tender Receives 1.9 GW Bids

• Technical bids for 1 GW grid-connected solar power tender by MSEDCL add up to 1.9 GW, according to Mercom India Research
• Among those interested in the tender are Avaada and Adani bidding for 500 MW each, ACME Solar & ReNew Power have bid for 300 MW each, and Tata Power is betting for 150 MW
• Juniper Green Energy is bidding for 100 MW while Shiv Solar is interested in 50 MW capacity

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has received bids with an excess capacity of 900 MW for its 1 GW solar power tender it issued in December 2018 (see 1 GW PV Tender From MSEDCL). A total of 7 solar power project developers have submitted technical bids of 1,900 MW for the tender, according to Mercom India Research. Among the bidders are:

•  Avaada and Adani having bid for 500 MW each,
• ACME Solar and ReNew Power bidding for 300 MW each,
• Tata Power interested in 150 MW,
• Juniper Green Energy has bid for 100 MW, and
• Shiv Solar for 50 MW

Originally, the 1 GW tender capped tariffs at INR 2.80 ($0.039) per kWh, and the agency was supposed to announce successful bidders on January 14, 2019 as per the notice inviting tender (NIT) schedule shared on its website. But Mercom says MSEDCL revised the ceiling tariff to INR 2.90 ($0.041) per kWh and extended bid-submission deadline to January 22, 2019.

MSEDCL exited 2018 with another tender to procure 1 GW power from 1 GW floating solar power capacity on Solapur's Ujjani Dam with a tariff capped at INR 3.00 ($0.043) per kWh (see MSEDCL To Procure 1 GW Floating Solar Power).
