A 10 MW solar power plant was commissioned in Iran recently. The Ghadir solar power plant was constructed by Ghadir Electricity and Solar Energy Company, an international power and energy investment company, and a partner company from Greece. It was built for a total of 600 billion Rials ($18.5 million).
Located in the province of Isfahan, the plant is fitted with 39,000 solar panels. The project is the largest solar power plant in the country, as per Iran's Ministry of Energy, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA).
The plant was constructed within seven months. At least 30% of the construction was 'localized'. More than 150 people were employed during the construction phase, and 10 people after the construction phase.
Clean energy generated by this solar power plant will be sold on a SABTA guarantee for a period of 20 years.
"It is worth mentioning that this power plant is the largest solar power plant with the tracking system in the country. In the development plan of this project there is also another solar power plant with the capacity of 10 MW next to the existing one," stated an official SATBA release.
Ghadir is also developing two other solar plants in Iran in the provinces of Qom and Yazd, each with a capacity of 10 MW.
In February 2017, two solar power projects with at total capacity of 14 MW were commissioned in Iran by Athos Solar (see German Developer Completes 14 MW In Iran).
