Solar power company Solar Philippines has proposed to build a massive solar PV facility in Philippines with 2 GW capacity in Nasugbu, Batangas city of the country, according to the notice of public scoping released by the country's Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
According to the proposal, Solar Philippines Biga Corporation has offered to build 2 GW Batangas 3 Solar Baseload Plant Project with a 6,000 hours battery energy storage system (BESS) and a 600 MW diesel back up. The company has secured Department of Energy's Solar Service Energy Contract (SESC) to exclusively explore, develop and utilize the solar energy resources, reported local media.
It has secured close to 2,000 hectares land in Nasugbu to build the project, and plans to secure all requisite approvals including Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).
The company which is also into solar module manufacturing, aims to launch construction in Q4/2022 with targeted schedule for project completion in Q4/2024. Solar Philippines believes this would generate local employment and add to the country's energy stability.
