35 MW Solar PV Tendered In North Macedonia

The Government of North Macedonia, previously Macedonia, in the Balkans has issued a call for 35 MW of solar power capacity to be developed in the country. The capacity will be developed on municipality land – 25 MW in Sveti Nikole and 10 MW in Makedonski Brod. There will be another call issued later for 27 MW to be developed on privately owned land.

The Government of North Macedonia said during the launch of the tender call that the projects can be set up in the following sizes – 10 MW, 5 MW, 2 MW and 1 MW – on one site.

Balkan Green Energy News reported for the 25 MW and 10 MW projects, bids may be submitted by August 21, 2019; awards will be published in late August. Tender proceedings for the 27 MW on private land will be launched in several weeks.

All this 62 MW capacity is expected to attract an investment of nearly €50 million ($56.60 million). The government said it will support investors with administrative approvals and complete all necessary procedures for conversion and urbanization of the sites.

In March 2019, the f North Macedonian government was reported to have said the feed-in-premiums will be awarded for 15 years for the 62 MW capacity. Currently, the country has an installed PV capacity of 18.4 MW, and Balkan Green Energy News said the government is aiming for the construction of another 200 MW by the end of 2021.
