UAE based renewable and thermal energy project developer AMEA Power has commissioned a 50 MW solar power plant in Jordan's Ma'an Governorate calling it the 1st internationally financed utility scale solar park in the country.
The facility is backed by $59.2 million financing from Netherlands' FMO and Germany's DEG (see FMO & DEG Back 50 MW Jordan Solar Project).
The Al Husainiyah Solar Power Plant is equipped with over 200,000 solar panels manufactured locally by Philadelphia Solar that's a 30% owner of the facility. AMEA Power is the 70% owner.
Both the companies won the project in the 2nd round of Jordan's renewables feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme. Clean energy generated by the facility is contracted to be sold to the National Electricity Company under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) (see Jordan Grants License To 50 MW PV Project).
AMEA Power operates in Africa, Middle East and Asia. It is currently working to achieve financial close for solar and wind energy projects across the AMEA region with a total capacity of 1.2 GW.
