  • The CRE-Sunview consortium has been awarded a contract to develop a 595 MW AC floating solar and BESS project in Malaysia

  • The MYR 2 billion contract was awarded by TNB Generation for the project at Lake Kenyir in Terengganu

  • Construction is set to begin in June 2026, with completion targeted for late September 2028

A consortium formed by Cypark Resource Bhd and Sunview Group Bhd has secured a contract to develop a 595 MW AC floating solar photovoltaic (PV) project integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Malaysia.

The consortium, comprising Cypark Renewable Energy and Fabulous Sunview and operating under the name CRE-Sunview, will deliver engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) services.

The contract, valued at MYR 2 billion, was awarded by TNB Generation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd. The project will be located at Lake Kenyir in Terengganu.

Construction is expected to begin in June 2026, with completion targeted for late September 2028. Once operational, the project is expected to be the ‘largest’ floating solar power plant in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, a separate Masdar-led consortium is developing a 300 MW DC/200 MW AC floating solar project at Chereh Dam in Pahang, which has also been positioned as a contender for the region’s largest floating PV installation upon completion (see Asia Pacific Solar PV News Snippets).
