PPC Renewables, the renewable energy arm of state owned electricity utility Public Power Corporation (PPC) in Greece, has attracted bids from 8 companies from Greece as well as international firms in response to a 50 MW tender it had launched in August 2020 (see 50 MW Solar PV Tender Launched In Greece).
According to unnamed sources as reported by local energy news portal energypress, 5 large Greek construction companies and 3 foreign multinational firms have submitted bids for the 50 MW EPC tender. These are Intrakat, Aktor, Terna, Avax, Voltalia Greece and Metka EGN—all from Greece. The 3 foreign players in the fray are Dongfang Electric International Corporation of China, and London headquartered Sunel Group + China's Shanghai Electric proposing a joint bid.
The 50 MW solar project is designed to be realized in the form of 2 projects of 39 MW and 11 MW in Megalopolis municipality' Megale Lakkes. Lowest bid offered for this capacity will adjudge the winner who will then enter a power purchase agreement (PPA) with 2 subsidiaries of PPC Renewables, namely Arkadikos Ilios I and Arkadikos Ilios II.
Most of the power produced by the 50 MW capacity on completion is scheduled to be supplied to corporate consumers through bilateral agreements, according to Balkan Green Energy News.
