A 90 MW solar power plant is in the pipeline for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The Government of Una-Sana Canton (USC) is set to issue an international public call for its construction. The tender is planned to be launched this year.
It will be the largest utility scale solar power project in the country for which the Ministry of Economy of USC has obtained consent from the Municipal Council of Bosanski Petrovac to initiate the procedure of granting a concession to investors for the facility, reported local media.
The 90 MW project to come up on around 150 hectares of land, is estimated to cost KM 100 million ($60 million), and all power produced will be exported, according to the Minister of Economy for USC, Nijaz Kadirić.
According to Balkan Green Energy News, this is the 4th large scale PV plant in the country's PV project pipeline. In May 2020, Reuters claimed Energy Financing Team (EFT) won 60 MW solar power capacity in an auction to build and operate in Bosnia (see 60 MW Solar Capacity Awarded In Bosnia).
The other large scale solar project planned for the region is a 73 MW facility by state utility Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) in the city of Trebinje, as part of the utility's 10-year plan to build 1 GW renewable energy capacity.
Balkan Green Energy News added that the 3rd large scale PV project planned here has 30 MW capacity and is planned by another state utility Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH).
