Yeo and GEI Power partner for Zambia's 1st utility-scale solar and storage project; AMEA Power commissions Burkina Faso plant; Arctech trackers for Tunisian project.
GEI Power and Yeo join hands in Zambia: A Turkish company called YEO Teknoloji Enerji Ve Endüstri Anonim Şirketi has joined hands with Zambia's GEI Power for a 60 MW solar and 20 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Zambia. Planned to be the country's 1st solar project to incorporate an energy storage component, the facility is planned to come online in September 2025. The Zambian Ministry of Energy says the project is valued at approximately $65 million. It is to be executed in the Choma district by a special purpose vehicle Cooma Solar Power Plant Limited. Feasibility studies, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and grid impact studies have already been conducted.
Zina Solar Plant online: AMEA Power has commissioned the 26.6 MW Zina Solar Power Plant in Burkina Faso. Located in Zina village of Mouhoun province, the solar project is contracted to supply power to the national utility SONABEL under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA). It is financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the IFC–Canada Climate Change Program and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF), a member of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG).
Arctech in Tunisia: Chinese solar tracker company Arctech Solar says it is supplying its SkyLine II trackers for the 120 MW DC/100 MW AC Kairouan Solar Plant in Tunisia. Currently under construction by a subsidiary of Energy China, the project is developed by AMEA Power (see Africa Solar PV News Snippets).
