Algeria's Electricity and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) has selected only one successful bidder and awarded 50 MW of total capacity in the form of five projects of 10 MW each as part of its 150 MW solar PV tender launched in November 2018 (see 150 MW PV Tender In Algeria). Winning projects will be located in Diffel locality of Biskra region.

The Algerian Power Generation Group was selected for the winning tariff of DZD 8.28 ($0.069) per kWh. The highest tariff quoted in tender proceedings for Biskra region was DZD 10.24 ($0.086) per kWh.

In the tender, Algerian Power Generation Group beat other contenders  such as Eurl Hamdi, Eurl Melec/Matelec/ib Vogt Group and ETBRHO Freres Zergoune by virtue of offering lowest bid.

The tender attracted 93 candidates out of which seven were shortlisted to submit bids. The entire capacity was supposed to come up in three lots—in Ghardaia, Biskra and Ouargla regions.

CREG did not specify if it would be auctioning the missing 100 MW of the original 150 MW capacity again, and if yes when.
