Alight has commissioned a 215 MW solar PV project in Denmark, combining solar with year-round sheep grazing
The project is contracted under a long-term PPA signed with state-owned railway operator DSB
The company had acquired the project from European Energy; it supports the company’s target of 5 GW installed capacity by 2030
Swedish solar developer and independent power producer Alight has brought a 215 MW agrivoltaic project online in Denmark. It is the company’s first operational asset in the country and Denmark’s second-largest PV installation, the company stated.
Equipped with 350,000 solar panels installed on solar trackers, the Lidsø Solar Park is spread over 253 hectares. It combines energy production with agriculture, with around 1,700 sheep grazing year-round. The project entered construction in the summer of 2024 in Rødby Havn, Lolland.
Alight will own and manage this project, which it acquired from European Energy in March 2025. It is contracted under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned railway company Danish State Railways (DSB) and will supply renewable energy to the Danish grid.
“Lidsø solar park will be an important part of Denmark’s energy transition and is proof that solar power can contribute on a large scale,” said Alight CEO Warren Campbell. This project also contributes to Alight’s goal of reaching at least 5 GW installed capacity by 2030.
