  • The provincial government of Santa Fe in Argentina has issued a tender seeking 50 MW of solar and wind power capacity in the province
  • Out of the 50 MW, solar PV will comprise 40 MW and wind power 10 MW; together these are expected to generate 96,000 GWh of clean energy annually
  • Tender documents will be up for sale from January 22, 2019, with last date of bid submission being February 19, 2019

Argentinian province of Santa Fe has issued a tender as it is looking at installing 50 MW of solar and wind power capacity. Santa Fe's electricity utility Empresa Provincial de la Energia (EPE) wants to set up 40 MW of solar PV capacity in North and South Corridors of the province, and 10 MW of wind power in South Corridor.

Solar power plants with 5 MW capacity will come up in Tostado, Ceresm Arrufo, San Guillermo, Firmat, and Rufino regions in Santa Fe, and another 10 MW will be located in Venado Tuerto. A 10 MW wind power plant will be established in Rufino.

Together all these projects are expected to generate more than 96,000 MWh of clean energy annually. The tender has been issued under the province's Generfe program through which it aims to reduce energy losses of the system, diversify its energy mix, promote provincial energy independence, among other objectives. Winning projects will need to be commissioned by May 2020.

Tender documents will be available for purchase from January 22, 2019. Bids may be submitted latest till February 19, 2019, and winners will be awarded on April 26, 2019, as per the schedule of the tender. Contracts with winners will be signed on May 2, 2019. Details about the tender are available on the website of Santa Fe government.

At the national level, Argentina has its RenovAr program through which the federal government conducts competitive auction rounds. In November 2018, it launched round 3 of the renewable energy auction program, calling it MiniRen, and offering 400 MW of total capacity (see Argentina Launches MiniRen/Round 3).
