Solar PV manufacturing conference: One of the upcoming destinations for solar PV manufacturing beyond China is India, where companies are gathering support from technologists and scientists to develop an upstream value chain. The idea is not just to establish vertical integration but also to make it a resilient and sustainable one. TaiyangNews is bringing together the country’s leading solar PV players and international experts to discuss the progress of solar PV manufacturing in the Asian country in a 2-day physical event in New Delhi, India, on April 10 and 11, 2025. At the event, Premier Energies’ Chief Strategy Officer, Sudhir M Reddy, will join the executive panel to discuss profitable solar manufacturing along the value chain with technology improvements. Registrations for the TaiyangNews Solar Technology Conference India 2025 are now open here, where you can also take a look at the list of speakers and insightful sessions planned.

130 MW solar farm in New Zealand: Renewable energy player Meridian Energy has secured the final investment decision and construction approval for its 130 MW Ruakākā Solar Farm in New Zealand. Located in the south of Whangārei, the project will enter construction in August 2025. It is the company’s maiden solar farm in the country. On completion, it will generate close to 230 GWh of electricity/year with 250,000 solar panels. The project will be located next to the company’s 100 MW Ruakākā Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), which will come online in April this year. Both these projects will together form the Ruakākā Energy Park.

European Energy expands in Australia: Denmark’s European Energy has started the construction of its 106 MW Lancaster Solar Park in Australia’s Victoria. It is the company’s 2nd renewable energy project in the country that’s now under construction. It will send 223 GWh to the grid annually once it is online. Construction will be completed in 2026.

It recently inaugurated the company’s maiden solar project in Australia, the Mokoan Solar Park in Winton, Victoria, with 58 MW capacity.

Stride’s funding round: Vietnam-based renewable energy company Stride has announced Series A funding, led by Singapore-based fund manager Clime Capital and UOB Venture Management. Touchstone Partners was the other investor. It will support the company’s expansion efforts and also enable it to provide tailored financing for Vietnamese residential and small-scale commercial and industrial (C&I) customers.

Trinasolar modules for Playford City: Trinasolar says it partnered with Venergy Solar in Australia to install its Vertex S+ 500W (NEG18R.20) monofacial dual glass modules across 6 key council buildings in a multi-build installation. Its modules are now deployed across theatres, sports, clubs, and carparks in the City of Playford, representing a combined 202 kW installed capacity. This will reduce the council’s grid electricity use and lower its carbon emissions.

Jinko ESS’ Tahiti project: Jinko ESS, the energy storage system (ESS) arm of solar PV manufacturer JinkoSolar, has installed its maiden large-scale PV and ESS project in Tahiti. This 10.7 MW installation includes Tiger Neo Series of its solar modules and 17.2 MWh of SunTera ESS. These are expected to generate 15,000 MWh of clean electricity annually.

JET certificate for Sungrow: China's Sungrow has secured the Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories (JET) certification for its residential energy system. It covers the SH5.5RS-JP hybrid inverter and residential battery, with a maximum storage capacity of 12.8 kWh.

JA Solar MoU with Terawat Energy: Solar PV manufacturer JA Solar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thailand-based distributor Terawat Energy. It will supply the company’s high-efficiency solar modules across the Thai market.
