World’s ‘Largest’ Hydro-Solar PV Hybrid Power Plant Under Construction & More From DZS, Risen, Canadian Solar, JinkoSolar

Yalong River Hydropower starts construction of 1 GW hydro-solar hybrid power plant; DZS' modules for Hubei's 18.55 MW rooftop PV project; Risen Energy gets SSE notice for production plans; Canadian Solar's 345 MW PV capacity sold in Australia; JinkoSolar's Qinghai fab produces 1st monocrystalline silicon rod.

Kela Photovoltaic GW Scale Power Station enters construction: Yalong River Hydropower has announced commencement of construction of phase I of the world's 'largest' hydro-solar PV hybrid power project. The hydro-solar project of Yalong River Two Estuary Hydropower Station is located at Lianghekou Hydropower Station in Sichuan province, 4,000 to 4,600 meters above sea level. The entire project is planned to have 1 GW installed capacity.  Once grid-connected in 2023, it is expected to generate 2 billion kWh annually on average. The company estimates this amount of clean energy can save over 600,000 tons of standard coal consumption and reduce CO2 emissions by over 1.6 million ton. Yalong River says the Kela Photovoltaic Power Station is the 1st hydro-solar hybrid power station to enter construction since the launch of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (FYP). Referring to research about the clean energy potential of Yalong River Basin, Yalong River, part of the SDIC Group,  believes clean energy can host about 30 GW of hydropower, and more than 40 GW wind and solar PV power generation along with more than 10 GW of pumped storage power generation.

DZS Solar modules for Hubei's largest rooftop PV project: With 18.55 MW installed capacity, the Wuhan Huaxing Rooftop Distributed Project is the largest such project to have come online in China's Hubei province, according to DZS Solar. The Chinese has company supplied its high efficiency shingled 3.0 single glass modules for the project; specifically, the project uses DZS Solar's 34,048 G12 57.5P solar modules. The module maker says these panels have cells that are cut through a laser into 1/6 strips and adopt a fully parallel circuit design to ensure higher yield. DZS Solar or Huansheng Photovoltaic is a subsidiary of leading wafer company TCL Zhonghuan, which said said in June that it plans to increase the capital of its subsidiary Huansheng New Energy by RMB 1 billion to speed up the implementation of its planned G12 high efficiency shingled module project expansion (see China PV News Snippets).

Risen Energy gets SSE notice: Risen Energy says it has received a notice from the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SSE) agreeing to resume the review of the company issuing A shares to specific objects to raise funds for its production plans. Once the SSE approved, the company can go ahead with its implementation, it announced. It plans to develop production capacity for 15 GW n-type ultra-low carbon high efficiency heterojunction (HJT) solar cells and 15 GW of high efficiency solar panels as announced earlier this year (see China PV News Snippets).

Canadian Solar sells 345 MW DC in Australia: In Australia, Canadian Solar has completed the sale of 2 solar farms with combined 345 MW DC capacity to CalEnergy Resources (Australia) Limited. Both the projects in New South Wales (NSW) have now achieved substantial completion and are expected to generate more than 700,000 MWh of solar energy annually. The facilities have long-term offtake agreements with a global leading technology company that was unidentified, and will help support decarbonization efforts. A subsidiary of Northern Powergrid Holdings Company, CalEnergy has also entered into a multi-year development services agreement with Canadian Solar. It provides a framework for both the partners to work together to build out the latter's growing renewable energy pipeline in the country.

JinkoSolar produces the 1st silicon rod at Qinghai location: JinkoSolar said its 20 GW Qinghai fab has rolled out its 1st monocrystalline silicon rod in Nanchuan Industrial Park in Xining. This, it explained, marks the successful commissioning of the n-type project counting 70 days from the start of construction to achieving commissioning, according to local media reports (see China PV News Snippets).
