LONGi Expanding HPBC Solar Cell Production Capacity To 29 GW & More From DAS Solar, Mingyang, IRICO, Jolywood

LONGi is targeting 29 GW HPBC solar cell production capacity; DAS Solar secures TUV Nord certification; Mingyang's HJT cell and module fabs online; IRICO completes phase I of PV glass project; Demand for Jolywood's NIWA modules up.

LONGi plans HPBC expansion: LONGi Green Energy Technology plans to expand the annual production capacity of its Xixian Leye 15 GW high efficiency monocrystalline cell project, based on proprietary hybrid passivated back contact (HPBC) technology, to a total of 29 GW. It is expected to come online in September 2023. Funds worth RMB 4.77 billion already raised for the previous 15 GW planned will be used for this project, while remaining will be raised by the project company itself, the company announced. The company's Hi-MO 6 panel uses this HPBC technology when it was launched in November 2022 (see New Record Efficiency Module With Back Contact Cell Form LONGi).

TUV qualification for DAS Solar: DAS Solar's Yidao Xinneng Photovoltaic Laboratory has secured the TUV Nord CTF Witnessing Laboratory qualification, the company announced. It received the qualification certificate that was set up in January 2022 with a separate testing site and office space. The CTF qualification is awarded by TUV Nord to conduct witnessing tests for customers' own laboratories with independent testing capabilities which helps the product's certification cycle.

Mingyang's HJT capacity update: Mingyang Smart Energy says it has achieved production milestone for 5 GW high efficiency heterojunction (HJT) solar cell and 2 GW high efficiency HJT modules projects. While the cell project is located in Yancheng in Jiangsu province, the module fab has come up in Shaoguan in Guangdong province. With this, the company claims to have become the 1st in China to have the largest production capacity of high efficiency HJT technology.

IRICO's phase I of PV glass project online: IRICO Group New Energy has commissioned phase I of its 3 ultra-thin, high transparency PV glass production lines while phase II with 2 production lines is being readied. The project is located in Xianyang city of Shaanxi province on 36 million sq. mtr. space. Here it will roll out PV glass of 2.0 mm and less thickness. It shared that the research and development of 1.6 mm ultra-thin PV glass and their trial production has been successful.

Jolywood's NIWA growing in demand: Jolywood says its NIWA solar modules for residential segment based on n-type TOPCon 2.0 technology counts its customers in more than 20 countries since its September 2022 launch. It claims the product enjoys popularity specifically in Europe and the Middle East. Jolywood says this module series has a module efficiency of up to 22.53%, bifacial rate of up to 85% and power output of up to 440W.
