Tongwei's phase-I 50,000-Ton silicon project put into operation: Integrated solar PV manufacturer from China Tongwei announced that its Phase-I 50,000-Ton High-Purity Crystalline Silicon Project in Yunnan has been put into operation. With this, the high-purity crystalline silicon output of the company has grown to 180,000 tons, which would further rise to 330,000 tons after the Phase-II project of Inner Mongolia Tongwei and the Phase-I project of Yongxiang Energy Technology commences production in the near future. As an affiliate of Tongwei, Yongxiang Co., Ltd. owns three production bases located in Baoshan of Yunnan, Baotou of Inner Mongolia and Leshan of Sichuan, respectively.

S.C New Energy TOPCon high-efficiency cell orders placed: New energy equipment manufacturer S.C New Energy Technology Corporation places orders for its TOPCon high efficiency cell for large-scale equipment, based on PE-poly route floor. This further strengthens the company's position in the PV field of TOPCon equipment industry. Keeping in view the industrialization of TOPCon high efficiency cells, S.C New Energy and Suzhou Run Sunshine, which is a MONO PERC solar cell manufacturer, have signed for a complete line transformation order for PERC+ to upgrade TOPCon. This is being done with a view to provide customers with 5 GW of PE-poly core equipment, including PECVD-Poly equipment and new models of Boron diffusion equipment. These are expected to be shipped by March next year. The total number of orders for S.C.New Energy's TOPCon equipment so far has been nearly 30 GW.

Akcome, CR Power & Zhoushan Ocean invest in HJT JV: Chinese solar cell and module producer Akcome Technology announced that the company plans to jointly fund a joint venture with China Resources Power, and Zhoushan Ocean Comprehensive Development Investment Co., Ltd., They plan to develop high-efficiency heterojunction solar cells and modules in Zhoushan. The final registered capital of the joint venture is estimated to be RMB 3 billion ($0.47 billion), and the investment ratio will be 4:2:2 for China Resources Power, Zhoushan Ocean Comprehensive Development Investment Co., Ltd., and Akcome Technology respectively. Meanwhile in August this year, Akcome and PowerChina had partnered for PV projects (see China PV News Snippets: Three Gorges, Akcome, Zoomlight)

China's 2021 PV installed capacity forecast lowered to 45-55 GW: Honorary Chairman of the Photovoltaic Industry Association Wang Bohua said that the photovoltaic manufacturing has grown strongly in the first three quarters of 2021.He also added that due to the lag in the issuance of indicators and price increases, the forecast of installed capacity in 2021 has been lowered from 55-65 GW at the beginning of the year to 45-55 GW. However, driven by China's huge reserve of photovoltaic power generation projects, the installed capacity in 2022 may increase to more than 75 GW. He pegged the output of:

  • Polysilicon at 360,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.1%
  • Silicon wafers at 165 GW, a year-on-year increase of 54.2%
  • Cells at 147 GW, a year-on-year increase of 54.6% and
  • Module at 130 GW, a year-on-year increase of 58.5%

Wang Bohua was speaking at the 2021 China Photovoltaic Industry Annual Conference & (Chuzhou) Photovoltaic Innovation and Development Summit Forum.
