SFPV to invest RMB 10.5 billion in TOPCon facility; Mellow Energy's perovskite indoor PV cells efficiency touches 44.72%; TCL Zhonghuan to increase G12 silicon wafer production capacity; China Energy Construction to raise RMB 15 billion; Cybrid's phototransfer film delivered to customers.

SFPV to invest in 10 GW TOPCon cell facility: Solar PV power generation product manufacturer and seller SFPV said over WeChat that it has signed an agreement with the Suzhou Municipal Government of Anhui Province and Suma Park of Suzhou City for a 10 GW TOPCon high-performance cell production facility, and also for photovoltaic and wind power generation, and energy storage projects. The total investment works out to be about RMB 10.5 billion ($1.53 billion). With this deal, SFPV's cell production capacity may touch 16.5 GW, and the module production capacity will be at 25 GW. The company will also have major production bases spread across China in Wuxi, Changzhou, Chuzhou and Suzhou. Last year, SFPV had inked 10 GW n-type TOPCon cell facility deal (see China PV News Snippets)

New breakthroughs in Mellow Energy perovskite PV cells: Module production and multi-scenario photovoltaic energy application development company, Mellow Energy, said over WeChat that the photoelectric conversion efficiency of its perovskite indoor photovoltaic cells has reached 44.72% under the irradiation of 1000lux U30 light source. This has been certified by the China National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center, and is supposed to be the highest value in the world as of now. In 2022, Mellow Energy had obtained world's highest certified efficiency of large-area flexible perovskite indoor photovoltaic modules with aperture area efficiency of 29.69%, and rigid indoor photovoltaic modules of 34.94% (effective area efficiency of 36%).

TCL Zhonghuan to increase G12 silicon wafer production capacity: Leading solar wafer supplier TCL Zhonghuan announced that it has partnered with Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone to invest in a high-purity solar ultra-thin monocrystalline silicon wafer facility, as part of DW Phase V project. The investment is expected to be about RMB 4.1 billion ($0.60 billion), and the construction will begin soon in February itself. The overall G12 silicon wafer production capacity of the facility will be about 35 GW. By the fourth quarter of this year, the facility will be completed and put into production. Last year, TCL Zhonghuan Holdings had expanded in PV project development in Ningxia (see China PV News Snippets).

China Energy Construction to raise RMB 15 billion: In an announcement, China Group said that it plans to raise about RMB 15 billion ($42.18 billion) to invest in multiple photovoltaic, solar thermal and wind power projects. Some of the projects include:

  • 1500 MW of Energy China Group Hami photo (thermal) storage multi-energy green power project
  • 1350 MW of photovoltaic and 150 MW of thermal storage, which will be developed as a solar thermal and photovoltaic integrated model

The total investment is about RMB 8.08 billion ($1.17 billion), towards which RMB 3 billion ($0.44 billion) of the raised funds will be used. The projects are expected to be completed by 30 December 2025.

Cybrid delivers phototransfer film Raybo to customers: Over a WeChat communication, leading solar backsheets and encapsulant manufacturer Cybrid Technologies said that it has finally delivered its black technology phototransfer film, Raybo film, to its customers. After 11 years of R&D, which started in 2012, the film has been dispatched. The uniqueness the phototransfer film is that it can guarantee not only the initial power, but also ensure relatively small module power attenuation, the company claims. Cybrid presented at the recent TaiyangNews Reliable PV Module Design Conference on Innovations in Module Encapsulation; its latest PV film products are listed in the new TaiyangNews Market Survey on Backsheets & Encapsulants 2022/23.
