Trina Pioneer 2P tracking system unveiled at Korea Expo; Zhuhai Hongjun New Energy HJT facility begins construction; Third phase of Gaojing Solar  wafer facility ignited; CECEP releases 2022 annual report and Q1/2023 forecast.

Trina showcases Pioneer 2P smart tracking system: Over a WeChat communication, Chinese solar module manufacturer Trina Solar said that it has unveiled the full series of Vertex n-type products, and has showcased a new generation of Pioneer 2P tracking system equipped with multi-motor drive system at the Korea International Green Energy Expo. Innovating and upgrading the multi-motor control system to replace the mechanical drive transmission method of the previous generation, the Pioneer 2P is known to greatly reduce the BOS cost of the power station. This holds true especially in complex application scenarios such as desert Gobi wasteland, farmland and fishing grounds, coastal beaches. At the TaiyangNews Bifacial & Solar Trackers conference, Trina Tracker's Oscar Aira presented how to improve the energy yield with the company's latest tracker solutions (see Oscar Aira's presentation Increasing Energy Yield by up to 8% here).

Zhuhai Hongjun New Energy HJT cell facility begins construction: Solar power generation technology services provider Zhuhai Hongjun New Energy announced over WeChat that the construction of its heterojunction high-efficiency solar cell facility in Fushan has begun. Spread across 300 mu and with an investment of RMB 5.9 billion, the facility will be built in three phases, and will reach full production capacity by the end of 2025. On completion, the annual production capacity will be about 7.2 GW cells and 5 GW modules. The facility is expected to achieve an annual output value of about RMB 11.8 billion ($1.7 billion).

Third phase of Gaojing Solar wafer facility ignited: The official website of Zhuhai government announced that the ignition ceremony for the third phase of Gaojing Solar's 50 GW large-size monocrystalline silicon wafer facility was held in Jinwan, Zhuhai. The facility has been built in three phases, wherein the first phase was put into operation in 2021 (see China PV News Snippets), and the second phase in February 2022. The construction of third phase had begun in November 2022. Once the third phase reaches full production, it has the capability of increasing the annual output value by RMB 14 – 15 billion. It was in 2020 that Gaojing Solar & Zhuhai signed an agreement for a RMB 17 billion PV wafer facility (see China PV News Snippets)

CECEP Solar 2022 net profit at RMB 1.3 billion: Holding subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP) has released its annual performance report for 2022, and the 2023 first quarter performance forecast. Here are the details:

  • In 2022, the company achieved an operating income of RMB 9.2 billion ($1.3 billion), a year-on-year increase of 31.44%; and a net profit of RMB 1.3 billion ($0.19 billion), a year-on-year increase of 16.6%. Many factors contributed to this growth, including company's commitment to promote high-quality investment and construction of photovoltaic power plants.
  • In Q1/2023, the company expects to achieve a net profit of RMB 370 million to 410 million ($54.1 million), a year-on-year increase of 41.4% to 56.7%. The main reasons for the performance growth are: the increase in installed capacity that has led the company to strengthen operation and maintenance management. This in turn has resulted in an increase in power generation. To add to this, the company has also strengthened capital management, and has achieved remarkable results in cost reduction and efficiency increase; and the sales in the manufacturing sector has also risen, leading to more profits, the company added.
