Canadian Solar to begin construction on new module fab: Canadian Solar Inc. expects to start commercial operations for its high efficiency solar module capacity in November 2020 under phase I of its 5 GW module expansion plans. Phase I has been under construction since February 2019. It has now signed up an agreement with the Xiuzhou National High Tech Zone to move forward on phase 2 of the plan in Xiuzhou National High Tech Zone in Jiaxing city. The company will officially commence construction on site in Q1/2021, local media reports stated.

JA Solar's DeepBlue modules pass IEC certifications: JA Solar said its DeepBlue 3.0 series solar modules have cleared IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 certification tests conducted by TUV SUD. Built on 182mm x 182mm wafers, these modules are now ready to be launched for the global PV market, it added. The company launched these modules in May 2020 claiming over 21% efficiency and power output of 72-cell type module could also exceed 545W. It announced mass production of this series in August 2020 aiming for it to account for over 50% of the company's total capacity by the end of 2021. Tao Wang of JA Solar discussed the technology behind these modules during TaiyangNews' virtual conference on 500W+ Solar Modules (see TaiyangNews 500W+ Conference: JA Solar).

Risen Energy modules for 100 MW project: Risen Energy will deploy its high efficiency solar modules for a 100 MW affordable solar PV power generation project in Zhaoyuan in Daiqing city of Heilongjiang province. Constructed commenced on the project on September 23, 2020 and is scheduled to last about 12 months. On completion, it is expected to generate 138.92 million kWh per year.

Further glass production plans of Kibing Group: Solar glass manufacturer Kibing Group plans to construct a PV module high transparent substrate material production line in the Economic Development Zone of Zixing city of Hunan province with an annual production capacity of 1,200 tons per day. These will be produced on 6 processing lines that are 1,200 mm wide and 2 lines with a width of 1,300 mm each, according to Polaris Solar Photovoltaic Network. It expects the project to cost an estimated RMB 1.027 billion ($150 million) and construction should last a year.
