CNNC to spend RMB 10 bn to build 1.5 GW PV & other energy projects: Baiyin CNNC Times New Energy Company, a joint venture company of China-based titanium dioxide manufacturer CNNC Hua Yuan Titanium Dioxide (CNNC), signed an agreement with Baiyin Municipal People's Government for new energy power generation projects. Announcing this, the company said that CNNC Times will build a new energy power generation project in Baiyin City, which includes 1,500 MW of photovoltaic power generation, 500 MW of wind power generation and 400 MW of energy storage. With an investment of RMB 10 billion ($1.55 billion), the project will be built in 3 phases, and the construction will take about 48 months. In June, CNNC signed a contract with holding subsidiary of CATL – Times Yongfu Technology – to jointly fund the establishment of Baiyin China Nuclear Times New Energy (see China PV Snippets:Talesun, Shuangliang, Jinko)

Akcome subsidiary to sell 49% stake in PV plant: Chinese solar cell and module producer Akcome Technology stated that its wholly-owned subsidiary Wuxi Akcome Power intends to transfer 48.9% of its equity interest in SPV Wujiaqu Akcome Power Development Company to equity investment firm Changsheng Private Equity Fund for RMB 147 million ($22.74 million). Another 0.1% will be sold to Chinese state-owned power company Three Gorges Electric Power for RMB 301,100 ($4656).

Suzhou Shijing wins 4 GW PERC solar factory project bid: A release by integrated environmental management and control service provider Suzhou Shijing Environmental Equipment said that it has won the 4 GW high-efficiency PERC solar cell production project from mono PERC solar cell manufacturer Runergy New Energy (Thailand) for RMB 200 million ($30.94 million).

Solar PV companies form Sustainable Energy Alliance: Chinese solar PV module producer Risen Energy said that a total of 17 Chinese PV companies, which includes itself, Trina Solar and JA Solar, with other regional utilities, wind power companies, PV companies and industry associations, came together to establish the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy. The aim of this alliance is to redefine the meaning of sustainable energy and to emphasize the social responsibility of all those who work in and are impacted by renewable energy. This alliance is open to all like-minded partners, from industry to civil society, academia and users, so that everyone can together address the global sustainability challenges.

State Grid to establish 2 wholly-owned subsidiaries for PV power projects: Power grid operator State Grid Jilin Province Electric Power expressed its intention to establish two wholly-owned subsidiaries – Guangxi Jilin Province Electric Power & Siping Jilin Province Electric Power Energy Development Company Limited – with registered capital of RMB 50 million for both. The company said that this move is happening in order to better coordinate the development of centralized and distributed photovoltaic projects, new energy projects, hydrogen power plant project, and incremental distribution network projects in Jilin province.
