Futura Sun opens new module fab in China: Italian solar module producer Futura Sun has increased its overall production capacity in China to 1.05 GW after it officially announced the opening of a new fab with 550 MW annual capacity, located next to its existing factory having 500 MW annual capacity (see 500 MW Chinese Fab For Italian Company). The new fab in Taizhou Photovoltaic District near Shanghai produces panels on 2 production lines to process half-cut cells (166mm to 210mm) for 2,120mm x 1,050mm modules.
Futura Sun says this half-cut configuration and multi busbars along with IBC technology, cylindrical ribbon, glass-glass solutions and modules will improve the panel's efficiency and duration. Having achieved its annual production capacity target in China, the Italian manufacturer said it can now allocate part of the production to Asian markets.
