LONGi & Mingyang sign strategic agreement: Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi and wind power company Mingyang Smart Energy have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote the efficient application of large-scale renewable energy power projects, LONGi said in an announcement. With this partnership, both the companies will be optimizing what they call 'zero-carbon electricity solutions' and serving energy security needs.
Zhongli Group's 5 GW module project begins production: Solar module supplier Zhongli Group's 5 GW module production facility in Suqian, Jiangsu Province has been officially put into production. It has an annual output of 5 GW cells, 5 GW modules and supporting products such as junction boxes. The project also covers energy storage and environmental protection management businesses and the total investment is about RMB 5 billion ($0.78 billion). As of now, the first two lines with a total capacity of 5 GW modules have been put into production. The next step is to realize the production of 5 GW cells within 2 months. The Group had announced its expansion plans earlier this year (see Zhongli Group To Invest In 10 GW Solar Production).
Huanghe IBC cell average efficiency exceeds 24%: The average efficiency of of IBC cells a the cell/module production base of Huanghe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. in Qinghai exceeded 24%, a Photovoltaic Network News report said. With the single cell power increasing by about 10%, and the module power increasing from 390 W to 425 W, this marks a significant achievement for the company in the field of high-efficiency photovoltaic cells and modules.
CMC-invested Hungary PV plant put into operation: China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CMC), in an announcement, said that the 100 MW PV power plant project in Kauposzburg, Hungary, which it had invested in, has been put into operation. With an investment of €100 million ($122.34 million), the construction of the Kauposzburg photovoltaic power plant project had begun in June 2019. Once connected to the grid, the plant is expected to generate 130 million kWh of electricity per year.
Phase I of Tongwei's 210 mm cell project put into production: The first phase of Tongwei Solar's Jintang new cell manufacturing project has been officially put into production. It produces 210mm format PERC cells. The total investment of for the entire project is about RMB 20 billion ($3.14 billion). The full facility has a planned annual output of 30 GW of solar cells and supporting projects. In April, Tongwei had reduced the annual production capacity of PERC cells from 7.5 GW to 5.6 GW to enable production of high-efficiency HJT silicon solar cells (see China PV News Snippets: Risen, Tongwei, Zhonghuan).
