Risen 5 GW Production Line Begins Operation; JinkoPower Acquires 20% Stake In Abu Dhabi 1.2 GW PV Station; SPIC Shandong & MCC Paper Yinhe Partner For 100 MW PV Project; Trina & Triumph To Supply Glass Materials Together

Risen 5 GW production line begins operation: Chinese solar module company Risen Energy's 5 GW high-efficiency solar cell and module production line in Chuzhou, Anhui has officially started operation. Earlier, Risen had announced a number of cell module expansion plans, including 5 GW high-efficiency solar cell production line in Yiwu Economic and Technological Development Zone, a 3GW production line in Malaysia, and signed supply agreements for their capacity increase (see Risen Energy Places Long Term Silicon Wafer Order).

JinkoPower to acquire 20% stake in Abu Dhabi 1.2 GW PV station: With a view to further promote its globalization strategy, Jinko Power (HK) Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JinkoPower, intends to acquire a 50% stake in Sweihan Solar Holding Company Limited held by Jinko Solar Sweihan (HK) Limited for USD 22.28 million. Sweihan Holdings has a 40% stake in Sweihan PV Power Company PJSC, the operating company of Abu Dhabi's 1.2 GW photovoltaic power plant. After the completion of the acquisition, JinkoPower will eventually hold a 20% stake in the Abu Dhabi Photovoltaic Power Plant Project Company, JinkoPower said in an announcement.

SPIC Shandong & MCC Paper Yinhe partner for 100 MW PV project: SPIC Shandong Energy, a branch of State Power Investment Corporation in Shandong Province, and MCC Paper Yinhe have got into a strategic cooperation agreement, wherein SPIC Shandong will invest in the construction of a 100 MW PV power station in Linqing. Once the project is completed, it will supply power to MCC Paper Yinhe at a discounted price.

Trina & Triumph to research together on glass materials: Chinese solar cell and module producer Trina Solar and aerospace company Triumph Group have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to carry out the scientific research on glass materials. This partnership has been established to promote industry innovation and standardization development. They intend to ensure high-quality development of the solar photovoltaic industry.

TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on High Efficiency Solar Technologies: Day 2 of the conference saw the launch of HJT Solar Technology Report 2020 by Technology Head of TaiyangNews, Sharvan Kumar Chunduri, who sees HJT now entering high volume production (see Heterojunction Solar Technology Report). Other speakers talking on HJT were Prof. Christophe Ballif of CSEM, Prof. Wenzhong Shen from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Yifeng Song from Risen Energy Co., Ltd., and Prof. Marwan Dhamrin from Toyo Aluminium.

The conference will continue till December 4, 2020, each day from 14:00 – 17:00 CET and will see industry leaders from research and production discuss TOPCon (Dec. 3) and IBC (Dec. 4)  (see Agenda & Free Registration)
