Sungrow Opens Chinese R&D Centre; Golden Glass Wants Loan For 1.2 GW HJT Solar Cell & Module Project; IRICO’s PV Glass Furnace Ignited; Spanish Module Order For Jinergy; SPIC To Build 800 MW Distributed PV+200 MW Energy Storage Projects In Dong’an

Sungrow R&D center in Nanjing : Solar PV inverter manufacturer Sungrow has opened its new R&D center in Nanjing region of China's Jiangsu province. Spread over 2,000 sq. mtr. of office area, the center will focus on R&D in smart technologies, big data, and software integration. Sungrow added that the center will also conduct advanced research on energy internet, energy storage management, wind energy, electric vehicles, future grid, and more. Here the company plans to employ 200 people by the end of 2021, and increase to 600 by 2025, as Sungrow wants it to be the company's 2 nd large largest research institute in the next 3 years to 5 years. Proximity of the center to various universities and research institutes will help it get talented human resource, it said.

Sungrow has other R&D centers in Hefei, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Nanjing, and is also establishing R&D facilities overseas.

Golden Glass wants RMB 300 million loan : Solar cell and module supplier Golden Glass plans to borrow up to 300 million from the company's controlling shareholder Guangdong Ouhao Group for its 1.2 GW large size half-cell high efficiency heterojunction (HJT) solar cell and module project . On July 29, 2021 the company held a project kick-off meeting and a signing ceremony for project production line equipment with Maiwei. Here, at this fab, it wants to produce 210mm wafer-sized HJT modules with over 700W power output. The factory is expected to reach complete ramp up by 2023, and post that the management may consider expanding it further. For Maiwei, this is its 1 st GW scale delivery of its HJT equipment.

IRICO furnace ignited successfully : Solar glass manufacturer IRICO Group announced it has successfully ignited the furnace of its ultra-thin and high-transmissivity photoelectric glass project in Hefei. Implementation of the project holds 'great strategic significance' for the company, as the management said it will enable it to lead technological innovation in the industry among other factors. The IRICO (Hefei) Photovoltaic Ultra-thin and High-transmissivity Photoelectric Glass Project has obtained an additional investment of close to RMB 550 million and will have an annual production capacity of around 38.60 million sqm of PV glass once it is completely ramped up.

In March 2021, IRICO Group's New Energy business announced its Shangrao ultra-thin and high transmissivity photovoltaic glass project has been officially started in Jiangxi Province ( see China PV News Snippets: Huayang, GCL, DAS Solar, IRICO ).

Jinergy gets Spanish HJT module order : Jinneng Clean Energy Technology Ltd. or Jinergy has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with an unidentified Spanish PV system supplier, under which the Chinese company will supply its HJT modules for local distributed projects. Jinergy claims over 24% cell conversion efficiency for its M6 sized silicon wafers. The modules to be supplied use half-cell technology.

800 MW solar and storage for Hunan : State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) will build distributed solar PV power plants in Dong'an of Hunan province for RMB 4.5 billion investment. It would comprise 15 demonstration projects in 300 villages with a combined capacity of 800 MW PV and 200 MW of energy storage. The Dong'an Rural Revitalization Distributed Photovoltaic Power Station Cooperative Development Project will be developed and constructed by State Power Investment Corporation Jiangxi Electric Power Co., Ltd. and China Urban Investment Group New Energy Co., Ltd., according to a report by Dong'an County Financial Media Center.
