China silicon prices up, wafers and cells stable, modules further down: In a survey on industry-wide price trends along the entire PV supply chain in mainland China between June 24, 2020 to June 30, 2020, comparing it to the period between July 1, 2020 to July 7, 2020, EnergyTrend  found multi polysilicon prices to have increased by 5.56% to RMB 38 per kg from RMB 36 per kg. For mono polysilicon the increase was reported as 1.79% from RMB 56 per kg to RMB 57 per kg. In non-Chinese markets, multi polysilicon price remained at $6.9 per kg.

For multi-Si wafers, the price was stable at RMB 1.18/$0.144 per piece, for M2 mono-Si wafers it was RMB 2.3/$0.286 per piece, for G1 mono-Si it was RMB 2.5/$0.305 per piece. For M6 mono-Si wafers, the price remained the same at RMB 2.55/$0.315 per piece.

Multi-Si PV cells also experienced no price change at all, remaining at the same level at RMB 0.5/$0.071 per watt for multi-Si cells, RMB 0.74/$0.09 per watt for mono-Si cells, RMB 0.79/$0.099 per watt for G1 mono-Si cells, and RMB 0.81/$0.1 per watt for M6 mono-Si cells.

Among modules, EnergyTrend said the quoted price of general multi-Si (275 W-280 W) was RMB 1.35/ $0.176 per W, which means a 2.88% drop from the previous RMB 1.39 /W. While high-efficiency multi-Si (325W-330W) modules were down by 0.71% to RMB 1.39/ $0.188 per W,  mono-Si (305 W-310 W) module prices decreased by 1.05% to RMB 1.47/$0.24 per W.

Jinneng Technology moving to M6 HJT cells: Jinneng Clean Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Jinergy) has started production of M6 (166 mm) wafer based HJT cells at its 100 MW heterojunction (HJT) manufacturing line at Jinzhong Base Phase II. The line is expected to provide efficiencies of 24.2% by the end of 2020.

New 250 MW HJT cell pilot line from Canadian Solar: On July 1, 2020, Canadian Solar began construction on a new pilot line of heterojunction (HJT) solar cells with an annual capacity of 250 MW through Jiaxing Canadian Solar Technology Research Institute. The new line will come up in Xiuzhou district for an investment of RMB 500 million ($71 million). On completion, this new line is expected to develop high-efficiency HJT cells and module products, according to CSI. The line is planned to begin production in Q1/2021.
