JA Solar commissions 20 GW high-efficiency cell fab in Yangzhou: Vertically integrated solar PV manufacturer JA Solar has commissioned the 20 GW high-efficiency cell fab at its Yangzhou base. The company simultaneously celebrated the 15th anniversary of the base. The company says that its facility is guided by green and intelligent manufacturing, involving advanced technology, intelligent equipment and green and low-carbon systems to produce n-type high-efficiency products. Just this week, JA Solar announced that its 10 GW cells + 10 GW modules Dongtai base has been put into production (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Yancheng Gaoce Jianhu (Phase II) large silicon wafer facility starts operations: Qingdao Gaoce Technology has announced that it has commissioned its Yancheng Gaoce Jianhu (Phase II) 12 GW PV large silicon wafer facility. The 118-acre facility started construction in February this year with an estimated investment of RMB 1 billion ($136.9 million). Once fully operational, the facility is expected to produce 12 GW of monocrystalline large silicon wafers, while generating revenues of RMB 1.2 billion ($164.3 million).

BAJ Solar officially commissions 10 GW TOPCon cell facility in Yangzhou: After recently rolling out the 1st cell (see China Solar PV News Snippets), BAJ Solar has officially commissioned its 10 GW n-type TOPCon high-efficiency cell facility in Yangzhou. The Yangzhou Base, incurring an investment of about RMB 2.6 billion ($356 million), consists of 2 phases with Phase I covering approximately 400 acres. Once complete, the facility will have a production capacity of 10 GW n-type TOPCon high-efficiency PV cells. Phase II, which was launched in July 2023, will involve the construction of an R&D center and other supporting functions.

POPSOLAR and Sanfu Tech sign strategic cooperation agreement: POPSOLAR and Sanfu Tech have announced that they have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. According to the terms, the 2 companies will cooperate in the development of advanced PV metallization and paste technologies such as TOPCon electroplating technology and TOPCon capillary structure silver paste technology. The said technologies are further expected to help the development of PV cell technology.

Tongwei terminates RMB 16 billion private placement; to fund high purity silicon facilities through other means: Integrated solar PV manufacturer Tongwei Co. Ltd. has announced that its board of directors has approved the termination of the issuance of shares to specific objects in 2023. In April, the company had announced its plans to raise RMB 16 billion ($2.19 billion) through a private placement to construct 200,000 MT high purity silicon facilities in Inner Mongolia and Yunnan Province. The company now aims to fund the construction through the use of its own funds, loans from financial institutions and other financing methods.
