News from SNEC 2023 in Shanghai:

Tongwei Solar n-type modules released at SNEC: Integrated solar PV manufacturer from China Tongwei Solar released two n-type modules – TWMNG-72HD and TWMHF-66HD – at SNEC. Here are the details:

  • TWMNG-72HD is designed and optimized keeping the traditional TWMND-72HD products as the base. It superimposes Tongwei Solar's high-efficiency TNC technology and large rectangular silicon wafers, and its highest power level can touch 625 W, bringing higher product value.
  • TWMHF-66HD has a power of 732.6W, and has higher power output, higher bifacial gain, lower power attenuation, and better temperature coefficient.

Recently, the CTO of Tongwei Solar's PV Business, had an exclusive talk about its module strategy with TaiyangNews (see From 14 to 80 GW Solar Module Capacity In About 1 Year)

TÜV SÜD awards JinkoSolar TOPCon cells at SNEC: At the 16th SNEC exhibition, module supplier JinkoSolar's TOPCon cells have been awarded TÜV SÜD solar cell LID certification. When put through the TÜV SÜD light-induced attenuation test in accordance with the requirements of the IEC 63202-1:2019 technical specification standard, the product performed throughout the test cycle, and the cells reached LID stability within the test irradiation required by the standard. The total stable irradiation was 8KWh/m2, far below the maximum irradiance allowed by the standard of 20 KWh/m2, the company added.

Trina and ECEPDI seal PV equipment purchase deal: Amid the frenzy of action taking place at SNEC in Shanghai, multifunctional engineering company ECEPDI and solar module manufacturer Trina Solar signed a photovoltaic module equipment procurement deal for the Axel Huidong New Energy solar, thermal and photovoltaic project. Trina Solar is providing 780MW PV modules for this project, whose focusing is on efficient utilization and application of clean energy by way of intelligent coupling and scheduling of solar thermal power generation and photovoltaic power generation.

Haitai Solar unveils Taihe 2.0 Magic Frame at SNEC: Green energy company Haiti Solar, along with US based clamping and racking solutions company ModuRack, released Taihe 2.0 Magic Frame Series Module at SNEC. Taihe 2.0 modules magical frames enable photovoltaic power plants to achieve a high degree of performance during installation. The company said that the photovoltaic power generation has been under pressure to reduce the cost of every watt and penny. Now, the magic frames are able to reduce the weight by about a kilogram, which is more than the what conventional aluminium frames could do. This in turn saves the module cost by about RMB 0.03/watt. Besides this, the frames also eliminate the installation of the pressing block, improve installation efficiency, and reduce the hot spot effect.

Astronergy RSD devices now TÜV certified: PV module manufacturer Astronergy announced that Germany based global chain of testing and certification firm, TUV Rheinland, has certified its module-level rapid shutdown (RSD) products. During emergency, RSD devices can be launched to reduce the module voltage to below 80V within 30 seconds. Currently, these devices can be adapted to all ASTRO and ASTRO N series modules. On another note, Astronergy has partnered with TÜV Nord and China's National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality (CPVT) for an outdoor empirical test of its ocean floating PV generation platform. During the empirical test, various tests and monitoring of power generation processes will be done on PERC and n-type TOPCon modules to test their performances.
