JinkoSolar launches 5 MWh SunTera ESS with 314 Ah battery; LONGi unveils 1 GW pilot line in Ordos; Huasun buys 1 GW of HJT cells from Leascend; Canadian Solar secures RMB 3.8 billion funding; MIIT promotes high-end PV equipment development.

New SunTera 5 MWh ESS with 314 Ah battery from JinkoSolar: Solar module and energy storage systems (ESS) supplier JinkoSolar has launched a new series of its utility-scale ESS SunTera. The 20-foot containerized ESS features a capacity of 5 MWh with a 314 Ah LFP battery. The company says that it offers charging/discharging up to 94%, while its on-demand liquid cooling helps it achieve less energy consumption of up to 30%. The company also offers intelligent O&M features for real-time monitoring and energy management. The SunTera ESS is offered with a 20-year warranty.

JinkoSolar recently inaugurated its 1st intelligent 3-dimensional warehouse at its Haining base (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

LONGi launches 1 GW pilot line of Ordos 5 GW solar module facility: Vertically integrated solar manufacturer LONGi has launched the pilot line of its Ordos City module manufacturing plant. The 1 GW pilot line is part of its 5 GW high-efficiency solar module fab located in the Ejin Horo Banner in Inner Mongolia. The facility is being built for a total investment of RMB 2.5 billion ($347.22 million). The company says that the pilot line completes its vertical integration in Zero Carbon Industrial Park, Ordos City.

LONGi recently reached out to its investors stating that the EU's Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) investigation will not affect its European business materially (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Huasun to buy 1 GW of HJT cells from Leascend: Heterojunction (HJT) module manufacturer Huasun Energy has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Leascend. According to the agreement, Huasun will purchase 1 GW of high-efficiency HJT cells from Leascend. In turn, Huasun will supply Leascend with 180 million pieces of 210 n-type monocrystalline silicon wafers (half-cut).

At the recent TaiyangNews Solar Power Plant Developments 2024 Conference, Huasun Energy's Director of Business Development Europe, Christian Comes discussed the state-of-the-art high efficiency HJT technology in 2024.

RMB 3.8 billion banking syndicate for Canadian Solar: The Economic and Technological Development Zone in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, has organized a banking syndicate with a total funding of RMB 3.8 billion ($527.78 million) for Canadian Solar. The consortium includes major financial institutions such as the Agricultural Development Bank of China and the Bank of China, among 3 other banks. The funding supports the initial phase of Canadian Solar's vertically integrated PV base in Hohhot, which commenced construction in August 2023. An investment of RMB 1.2 billion ($166.67 million) has been made to date. This banking syndicate will help develop the facility further through additional financial backing.

Canadian Solar figured in the Grey Zone in the most recent Sinovoltaics report on solar module manufacturers' financial strength (see New Report Analyzes Financial Stability Of Module Makers).

MIIT promotes development of high-end PV equipment: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with 7 other departments, has called for development of high-end PV equipment. The plan also calls for upgrading high-end advanced equipment in industries such as batteries and bio-fermentation. Relevant to the PV industry, the plan points out advanced equipment such as large thermal field monocrystalline furnaces, high line speed small axis distance multi-wire cutting machines, multi-in-one coating equipment, and large-size multi-busbar module stringer machines.
