Day 2 of TaiyangNews Virtual Conference tomorrow; JinkoSolar reports strong Q1, partners with ACLE; TZE raises RMB 4.9B; GCL & Hongjun New Energy join hands on HJT tandem tech; Huasun to build HJT/perovskite tandem pilot line; RenShine's all-perovskite tandem cell hits 30.1%.

TaiyangNews Virtual Conference Day 2 on May 29: The TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on Distributed Solar will continue on May 29, from 09:30 to 12:30 CEST. Tomorrow, the focus will be on the various aspects of commercial and industrial solar, and the Conference will look into the market potential through the eyes of Juan Monge from Wood Mackenzie. Johanna Bonilla from JinkoSolar, Ignacio Espinosa from JA Solar, and Shudong Luo from Hopewind will explore different product solutions – from modules, inverters to batteries – aimed at C&I, while Molly Morgan from Exawatt will speak about the efficiency and cost aspect. Alexander Sredanovic from Memodo will throw light on how to distribute these products, and Torge Lahrsen from encentive will address the benefits for C&I companies applying solar. Jan Osenberg from SolarPower Europe will speak about policy drivers for C&I. The Conference will be moderated by Anu Bhambani, Senior Editor, TaiyangNews, and will close with a panel discussion.

JinkoSolar reports strong Q1 2024: JinkoSolar has reported strong results for Q1 2024, saying the results show significant advantages over competitors in sales growth and margins. The company reported a 51.2% Year-over-Year (YoY) increase in shipments, reaching 19.99 GW. Its gross profit for the period was RMB 2.74 billion ($378.8 million), which the company claims is the highest in the industry. With projected production of around 100 GW for the year, JinkoSolar says there is robust demand for its Tiger Neo products, with higher capacity utilization and cost efficiency contributing to its financial health. VP Dany Qian noted the company's pricing strategy prioritizes reliability amidst market volatility.

JinkoSolar partners with ACLE Services: JinkoSolar has signed a contract with ACLE Services to supply an 84 MWh Utility Energy Storage System for 7 facilities under Sustainable Energy Infrastructure (SEI) in Australia. The project will use JinkoSolar's 20ft liquid-cooled containerized BESS solutions with Centralized PCS and control systems, aiming to enhance grid strength. Scheduled for completion by mid-2025, this project highlights the companies' commitment to sustainable energy adoption.

Earlier this month, JinkoSolar signed a 1 GWh large-scale energy storage order with Sunrev Solar (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

TZE raises RMB 4.9 billion for silicon wafer & TOPCon cell plants: TCL Zhonghuan Renewable Energy (TZE) has announced its plan to raise up to RMB 4.9 billion ($680 million) through the issuance of convertible bonds. The funds will be used for a 35 GW high-purity solar ultra-thin monocrystalline silicon wafer smart factory project and a 12.5 GW n-type TOPCon cell factory project. The 35 GW wafer project, located in Yinchuan, Ningxia, has a total investment of RMB 3.65 billion ($507 million), with RMB 3 billion ($417 million) expected to come from the raised funds. This project has an 18-month construction period. The 12.5 GW TOPCon cell manufacturing project, located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, has a total investment of RMB 4.62 billion ($643 million), with RMB 1.9 billion ($264 million) expected to come from the raised funds. This project has a 12-month construction period.

Earlier this year, TZE released the M10-80P solar module based on TOPCon cell and shingled technology for the distributed market (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

GCL Perovskite collaborates with Hongjun New Energy on HJT tandem tech: Perovskite module manufacturer GCL Perovskite has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Hongjun New Energy. The 2 companies aim to collaborate on the customized production and technology development of HJT tandem modules, aiming for a conversion efficiency of over 27%. The collaboration aims to further the development and broader application of tandem technology in the photovoltaic (PV) sector.

Earlier this month, GCL Perovskite broke ground on its GW-level large-size commercial perovskite module production base in Kunshan High-tech Zone (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Huasun to build 50 MW pilot line for HJT/perovskite tandem cells & modules: Huasun Energy plans to renovate its Xuancheng workshop, spread over 5,000 sq. m. The Environmental Protection Bureau of Xuancheng City, Anhui Province, has released a public notice on the environmental impact assessment (EIA) draft for this facility. This renovated facility is aimed to serve as a 50 MW pilot line for crystalline silicon HJT/perovskite tandem cells and modules. The renovation will include the purchase of new equipment such as texturing and cleaning equipment, PVD sputtering equipment, light injection equipment, evaporation, and coating equipment. =

RenShine Solar's all-perovskite tandem cell hits 30.1% efficiency: RenShine Solar has announced that its all-perovskite tandem cell has achieved a steady-state conversion efficiency of up to 30.1%. The company says that this achievement has been certified by the third-party certification agency JET for tests conducted in October 2023. The company says that this feat has been achieved using only low-cost polycrystalline thin-film photovoltaic materials. RenShine says further that it has set 7 world records for tandem cell efficiency and 2 world records for large-area perovskite single-junction module efficiency.
