Solargiga Energy Licenses Sharp’s BC Cell Technology

PV module manufacturer Solargiga Energy has signed a patent licensing agreement with Sharp Corporation for back-contact (BC) cell technology.

Under the agreement, Solargiga gains authorization to engage in joint BC technology development with global cell manufacturers and establishes a patent basis for BC module commercialization. The company said the deal provides a compliant pathway for R&D, manufacturing, and international sales of BC modules.

Solargiga has manufactured modules for Sharp under an OEM agreement since 2013 and began developing BC technology in 2018.

On the financial front, Solargiga reported subpar results for FY2025 last month, with its net loss widening more than 25% year-over-year (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Jinko Power Plans to Invest RMB 24.5 Billion in 1 GW Computing Center

Jinko Power, the power project development subsidiary of JinkoSolar, has signed an agreement with the Zhongwei municipal government in Ningxia to build a 1 GW computing center, with a total investment of RMB 24.5 billion.

The project will deploy around 50,000 server racks and be developed in 3 phases. The company said the computing load will create stable electricity demand, supporting ‘source-grid-load-storage’ integration with its renewable energy assets and improving local consumption of green power.

Jinko Power said the project supports its expansion into integrated energy and green computing services.

Gokin Solar and AIKO have signed a strategic cooperation agreement that focuses, among other things, on value chain optimization across wafers, cells, and modules.

Gokin Solar and AIKO Deepen Strategic Collaboration on BC Technology

Gokin Solar and AIKO have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to expand collaboration on BC technology, building on a 2024 partnership that was aimed at scaling BC module production.

The partnership focuses on value chain optimization across wafers, cells, and modules, including cost-reduction processes such as low-silver and silver-free metallization, as well as coordination of capacity and supply chains. The companies also plan to jointly develop market channels.

ZTT Group Reallocates RMB 200 Million to Advanced Energy Storage Manufacturing

Diversified infrastructure developer ZTT Group has reallocated RMB 200 million of the funds it raised from its commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage facility to a new advanced, low-carbon energy storage manufacturing plant.

The project includes 51,700 m² of new construction and targets an additional 20 GWh/year of energy storage system capacity, with full production expected by October 2027.

ZTT said this adjustment is aimed at improving capital efficiency amid changing electricity pricing policies affecting the C&I storage segment.

Earlier this month, ZTT signed a 1 GWh energy storage strategic partnership with LONGi (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
