Perovs to build new manufacturing base in Zhejiang

Perovskite solar module manufacturer Perovs has signed an agreement with Wenling City in Zhejiang Province to develop a GW-level mass-production base for new energy equipment. According to local authorities, the planned investment totals RMB 300 million and will cover about 35 mu of land. The base will manufacture fully automated smart production lines for high-efficiency crystalline silicon PV equipment, perovskite, and OPV technologies, as well as key process equipment for solid-state batteries.

Earlier this year, Perovs announced that it is building a 3 GW production base for perovskite solar modules in Jiangjin District, Chongqing (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

LONGi and AIKO win 232 MW bid for BC modules

China Huadian’s Yunnan subsidiary has announced the results of its 2025 centralized procurement for PV modules. The company’s tender invited bids for 232.2138 MW of n-type BC bifacial dual-glass modules with a minimum power output of 650 W.

LONGi and AIKO secured the first and second winning positions, offering prices of RMB 0.756/W and RMB 0.775/W, respectively.

GCL Tech sets new carbon footprint record for silicon-based materials

GCL Tech, the polysilicon business arm of GCL Group, announced that its Baotou facility in Inner Mongolia has received a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Verification Statement from BSI. Based on ISO 14040, ISO 14044, and ISO 14067 methodologies, the assessment quantified the product carbon footprint from raw material extraction to factory gate.

The company reported a ‘cradle-to-gate’ carbon footprint of 14.2756 kgCO₂e/kg for its granular silicon, beating the previous benchmark of 14.441 kgCO₂e/kg issued by France’s ADEME (see China Solar PV News Snippets). GCL Tech highlighted that the result sets a new low-carbon production record for silicon-based materials.

Qinghai’s 2nd-round PV mechanism tariff lower than 1st round

Qinghai Province has released the results of its second-round mechanism tariff auction for renewables. A total of 49 PV projects were selected, representing 781.04 GWh of mechanism electricity, with an awarded tariff of RMB 0.227/kWh. The province also selected 4 wind projects totaling 668.87 GWh at RMB 0.24/kWh. All projects will apply the tariff for a 12-year term.

In the first-round auction announced in November, Qinghai allocated 1.125 TWh of PV and 543 GWh of wind capacity, both at RMB 0.24/kWh. Compared with the first round, the second-round PV mechanism tariff has moved lower. However, the first round attracted lower-than-expected subscriptions (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
