Cybrid has announced a global co-innovation partnership with Swiss cleantech firm LightSeeds, aimed at fast-tracking the commercial deployment of ultra-light, glass-free solar modules, at SNEC 2025 in Shanghai.

Cybrid partners with LightSeeds to accelerate eco-engineered solar modules

Polymer material solutions provider Cybrid has announced a global co-innovation partnership with Swiss cleantech firm LightSeeds, aimed at fast-tracking the commercial deployment of ultra-light, glass-free solar modules, at SNEC 2025 in Shanghai. These eco-engineered modules, developed by LightSeeds, boast over 50% lower carbon footprint across their lifecycle compared to traditional glass-based PV panels.

According to LightSeeds, its patented polymer-based design enables fully recyclable, lightweight modules ideal for rooftops, façades, and vertical applications where standard panels are unsuitable. Cybrid is providing a full suite of customized polymer solutions to support LightSeeds’ product scaling and differentiation. The partnership combines Cybrid’s industrial capabilities with LightSeeds’ breakthrough technology, targeting rapid market adoption and global licensing opportunities.

With industrial rollout underway, LightSeeds is actively seeking investors and manufacturing partners to commercialize its IP.

UtmoLight secures 100 MW turnkey commercial perovskite module line deal

At the ongoing SNEC 2025, UtmoLight signed a contract with Huoshi Xihe New Materials (Kulun) Co., Ltd. for the supply of a turnkey 100 MW commercial perovskite module production line. It will be set up at the latter’s facility in Kulun Banner, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, said to be the first commercial perovskite module production line in the area. Aimed to serve as a benchmark production line, it is expected to be completed and put into production by the end of 2025.

Late last month, UtmoLight announced that its commercial standard module was included in the latest Solar Cell Efficiency Tables, Version 66 for 2025, published by Professor Martin Green’s team (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Seraphim and Xingkai Electromechanical sign agreement for 1 GW PV sand control project

Another in the list of deals signed at the SNEC 2025 exhibition, Seraphim and Inner Mongolia Xingkai Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. signed an agreement for a 1 GW photovoltaic (PV) sand control project. Located in Inner Mongolia, the project spans an area of over 37.3 million m2. Seraphim will supply its Sable n-type 210 modules for the project, rated for a power output of up to 710 W. The project combines PV power station construction with ecological restoration, addressing desertification while strengthening Inner Mongolia's energy infrastructure. This project is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by 1.56 million tons, equivalent to planting 850,000 trees.

At the recent Intersolar Europe 2025, Seraphim promoted its latest 620 W full-screen Sable series bifacial model, featuring an innovative frame design (see Seraphim’s Innovative Full-Screen Bifacial Module At Intersolar Europe 2025).

TÜV Rheinland IEC 63163:2021 certification for Yanhe Solar's perovskite solar cells

Solar startup Yanhe Solar has announced that the perovskite solar cells developed in-house have been certified according to the IEC 63163:2021 standard by TÜV Rheinland.

The IEC 63163:2021 standard involves photovoltaic products used in mobile and portable devices, such as personal computers, smartphones, mobile power supplies, portable positioning devices, etc. The standard proposes systematic testing requirements from performance stability, environmental tolerance to mechanical strength. It is an important technical reference for mobile photovoltaic modules to enter the consumer electronics market.

TÜV Rheinland conducted a comprehensive evaluation of Yanhe Solar's solar cells, covering a number of key performance indicators such as high temperature and humidity, thermomechanical cycles, and mechanical shock. It certifies the stability and long-term reliability of Yanhe’s perovskite solar cells.

Golden Solar wins 194 MW overseas orders for high-efficiency heterojunction solar cells

Golden Solar subsidiary Guangdong Golden Glass Technologies (H.K.) Limited has signed a cell supply contract for 194 MW high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) cells with an overseas strategic customer. The company’s JGYC210-0BB bifacial microcrystalline cell, which forms the core of this contract, is based on 210 mm wafers, integrating 0BB busbar-free, silver-coated copper paste and precision steel screen printing technology. The company says it achieves an 18% reduction in line resistance and minimizes optical losses with the help of the 0.8 µm ultra-fine grid line design. In addition, it also claims to achieve a 30% reduction in silver consumption, while delivering 25.8% efficiency in mass production and 735 W+ module power. Among its other notable specs are a bifaciality of over 90%, a temperature coefficient of -0.24%/°C, and a first-year attenuation rate of ≤1%.
