LONGi launches initiative to improve quality and testing standards across full lifecycle

At SNEC 2025, leading PV manufacturer LONGi, along with institutions such as CQC, China Institute of Metrology, CGC, TÜV Rheinland, and TÜV SÜD, jointly launched the Initiative to Improve the Quality and Testing Standards of the Photovoltaic Industry’s Full Life Cycle. The move addresses rising quality issues amid falling module prices, frequent failures, and a widening supply-demand imbalance in the PV industry.

The initiative proposes 4 strategic directions:

  1. Value Return: Shift focus from blind scale expansion to value creation through independent innovation, aiming to break reliance on low-cost, low-quality models and support PV as a main energy source.

  2. Standards First: Establish and enforce higher product and testing standards tailored to regional climates, reinforcing full-lifecycle reliability and safe, efficient operation of PV systems.

  3. Quality Revolution: Implement full-lifecycle certification for power stations, from design to O&M, eliminating substandard projects and prioritizing durability and long-term performance.

  4. Co-Building Ecology: Promote collaboration across the PV value chain to shift the industry from a manufacturing-led model to one driven by innovation.

Following the initiative, LONGi and partners launched the Photovoltaic Module Standardized Efficiency Grade Certification.

In March, the CPIA approved 5 group standards led by LONGi (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Hello Tech gets ‘world's 1st’ curved PV tile UL 7103 certification

Portable energy storage and BIPV player Hello Tech has announced that it received the ‘world’s first’ curved PV tile BIPV UL 7103 certification and UL 61370 certification during SNEC 2025 last week. Certified by UL Solutions, the company says this certification ensures that the product can operate safely and stably in complex and changing building environments and complies with core building regulations such as NEC, IBC, and IRC.

Hello Tech claims it has filed more than 130 patent applications for its aesthetic curved PV tile, calling it the ‘world's first’ XBC crystalline silicon multi-curved PV tile. It claims an efficiency of 17.1% for this product, which also features ‘zero glare pollution’ through the combination of 4 mm ultra-white fully tempered matte glass and aluminum alloy components. Among its other features are reduced maintenance costs, 100% electroluminescence (EL) without hidden cracks and desoldering, capability to operate in extreme environments like hail and temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C, and 85% relative humidity.

BOE's perovskite BIPV full-scene demo project wins PV Building Evaluation Certificate

Another in the series of news coming out of SNEC 2025, IoT player BOE has announced that its perovskite BIPV full-scene demonstration project won the first Photovoltaic Building Evaluation Certificate. Claiming it as the only perovskite technology application project, the company says this perovskite project sets an example for the high-quality development of the BIPV industry.

In April, BOE reported perovskite PV progress across multiple technology platforms, including hitting 17.5% efficiency on 1.2 x 2.4 m modules (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

JIANGSONG's GEM IPO application accepted

The Shenzhen Stock Exchange has accepted the GEM IPO application from high-end smart equipment manufacturer JIANGSONG. According to its prospectus, the company is mainly involved in research and development, production and sales of high-efficiency PV cell automation equipment.

JIANGSONG plans to raise RMB 1.053 billion ($146.6 million) through this IPO, with the proceeds funding several of its plans: RMB 278 million ($38.7 million) for the construction of an intelligent equipment production base; RMB 292 million ($40.6 million) for an R&D center; RMB 60.981 million ($8.49 million) in the smart operation platform project; and RMB 111 million ($15.5 million) for the construction of Suqian intelligent equipment precision machining base. The company plans to use the remaining proceeds of RMB 310 million ($43.1 million) to supplement working capital.
