Maxwell achieves 32.5% efficiency for HJT-perovskite tandem cell

Solar equipment manufacturer Maxwell has reported that its perovskite-silicon heterojunction (HJT) tandem cell has achieved a certified conversion efficiency of 32.5%, verified by Fraunhofer ISE. This is an improvement over its previous record of 32.38% set in November 2025 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

According to the company, the cell was produced on 110 µm industrial-grade silicon wafers using its mass-production equipment and processes. Maxwell attributed the gain to optimized perovskite passivation and development of low-damage TCO materials.

CHN Energy connects 6 GW PV base in coal subsidence area

Large energy developer China Energy Investment Corporation (CHN Energy) announced full operation of its 6 GW new energy base in Ningxia, said to be China’s largest single-unit composite PV project built in a coal subsidence area. The project integrates a 600 MW/1,200 MWh energy storage system.

The base uses the ±800 kV Lingshao UHV DC line under a ‘PV-thermal bundling’ model to transmit the generated power and is expected to supply about 10.8 TWh of electricity to Zhejiang Province annually.

Last month, CHN Energy announced achieving partial grid connection for its 2 GW composite photovoltaic base in Ningxia (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

State Grid targets ≥200 GW annual renewable connections through 2030

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has committed to connecting at least 200 GW of new renewable capacity annually during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030). Its plan includes accommodating more than 60 GW of new distributed capacity each year.

The company targets a 25% share for renewable generation in its operating regions by 2026, increasing it to over 30% by 2030. It also aims to have more than 120 GW of pumped hydro storage operational or under construction by 2030 and to lift annual utilization of new energy storage systems above 1,000 hours.

Gansu sets RMB 0.1954-0.2447/kWh price range for 2027 renewable bidding

The Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission has launched mechanism electricity bidding for renewable projects scheduled for grid connection between January 1 and June 30, 2027, including projects not previously included in the mechanism.

Total mechanism electricity volume is set at 3 billion kWh, with 1.7 billion kWh allocated to wind and 1.3 billion kWh to solar. A unified bidding range of RMB 0.1954/kWh to RMB 0.2447/kWh applies to both technologies.

AIKO and LONGi shortlisted for Huadian’s 800 MW module procurement

China Huadian Group has released the results of its 800 MW PV module tender for projects in Gansu Province. The procurement specifies modules rated at no less than 650 W with front-side efficiency of at least 23.8%.

AIKO was named the first candidate with a bid of RMB 0.704/W, followed by LONGi at RMB 0.754/W.

Recently, Huadian announced the results of its 360 MW bifacial double-glass PV module procurement for its 1 GW wind-solar-hydrogen integrated project in Inner Mongolia (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
