TaiyangNews Special Webinar on September 30, 2025

Although the concept of back contact (BC) technology has been around for over a decade, its primary target has been the super-premium rooftop segment, largely due to the complex processes involved and the associated costs. However, a handful of PV manufacturers have invested heavily in the technology to overcome these cost and complexity bottlenecks.

In this TaiyangNews Special WebinarUnlocking the Utility Potential of BC Technology, we will focus on the commercial developments that are transforming BC into a strong contender for utility-scale PV installation.

The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CEST. Registrations are free and can be done here.

Huasun Energy and Haier New Energy to collaborate on BIPV

Heterojunction (HJT) expert Huasun Energy has initiated discussions with Haier Energy to cooperate on building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). The 2 companies aim to combine Haier Energy’s resources in commercial and industrial distributed scenarios with Huasun’s HJT products to deliver more competitive solar solutions. They also aim to promote tripartite cooperation with Conch PV, focusing on PV building materials and BIPV technology R&D, in addition to participating together in China’s large-scale renewable energy base projects.

Huasun’s cooperation with Conch PV dates back to 2022, when Huasun partnered with cement producer Anhui Conch Group and other companies to establish Xuancheng Conch Building PV Technology Co., Ltd (Conch PV). The joint venture focuses on PV building products and project development, with plans to build a production line with an annual capacity of 300,000 m2 of PV curtain wall modules, a 50 MW PV tile line, and a 30 MW PV metal rooftop line.

In March, Huasun Energy signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Haier New Energy to collaborate on ground-mounted solar photovoltaic bases, C&I PV projects, and residential PV projects (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

China Datang launches 2,000 V PV demo base

Chinese energy developer China Datang has inaugurated a 2,000 V photovoltaic demonstration base in Wenchang, Hainan, calling it the ‘world’s first’ PV test site operating at such a high voltage level. Located in a hot and humid climate zone and supported by a national demonstration technology laboratory, the facility provides multi-climate simulation, full-cycle data collection, and systematic performance evaluation. The base is expected to serve as the testing grounds for long-term reliability of PV products under conditions such as damp heat and high salt mist.

Recently, China Datang started operations at the country’s first demonstration base for integrated PV + CSP development in the desert-Gobi-wasteland region (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

GCL ET launches distributed PV aggregation platform

GCL Energy Technology (GCL ET), the energy business subsidiary of GCL Group, has released a distributed PV aggregation platform that it has developed in-house. Led by the company’s energy AI modeling team, the platform currently focuses on applications in Jiangsu Province, with 1,648 power stations connected and a total aggregated capacity of 3,089.97 MW. According to the company, the system integrates meteorological, grid, and market data to provide real-time information on weather, temperature, and irradiance, while offering end-to-end management from generation forecasting to real-time monitoring. It adds that the system enables efficient resource scheduling and helps users participate in green power trading with a higher proportion of electricity.

1st module rolls out from DAH Solar’s 3 GW plant

Solar manufacturer DAH Solar has officially produced the first module from its new 3 GW solar module manufacturing base in Nanling County, Wuhu City, Anhui Province. This facility was built with a total investment of RMB 1.2 billion ($167 million). According to an earlier project document, the facility houses 3 production lines, each with a capacity of 1 GW, enabling the annual production of 3 GW of full-screen, fully compatible solar PV modules.
