Between January 2023 to April 2023, China exported over $19.3 billion worth of solar PV products, reflecting an annual increase of 18.9% in the numbers, with cumulative export value of PV products went up by 29.3% annually to more than $10.7 billion in March & April, according to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
As per the ministry, China produced about 210,000 tons polysilicon from March to April this year, with a 72.1% annual jump, whereas there was a 79.8% annual increase in the national output of silicon wafers with 88.1 GW.
China also produced 81.6% more crystalline silicon cells during March-April period to about 79.9 GW. It has also registered an annual improvement of 92.5% in the production of 74.1 GW solar modules.
Overall, China's national output of polysilicon, wafers, cells and modules improved by more than 72% YoY.
Previously, the ministry had reported the country's total production of polysilicon, wafer and cells in January 2023 and February 2023 as 176,000 tons, 71 GW and 62.2 GW, respectively (see China's Annual PV Production Goes Up In 2M/2023).
Recently, InfoLink Consulting said China exported 69 GW PV modules in 4M/2023 of which 40 GW was shipped to Europe (see Chinese Solar Exports Head North).
