Companies Sought For 4.5 MW Solar PV Project In Barbados

Barbados Water Authority Seeking Bidders For 4.5 MW Solar PV Project Tender Through Caribbean Community Climate Change Center

  • The tender has been launched on behalf of BWA and the solar power capacity needs to be set up in the form of 2x2 MW projects and a 500 kW system
  • Projects will be funded through part of proceeds from a GCF financing meant for a water resilience project in the country

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) has launched a tender on behalf of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) for a 4.5 MW solar PV generation project and 2 MW microturbine systems and other components for specified pumping stations of the BWA.

For 4.5 MW solar PV capacity, the scope of work includes design, supply, installation and commissioning of 2 MW of grid connected PV system including switchgear and transformer, one each for BWA Belle Pumping Station and BWA Hampton Pumping Station. One PV project with similar specifications will need to be set up with 0.5 MW capacity for BWA Bowmanston Pumping Station.

Projects must be commissioned in a phased manner. Last date to submit bids is March 31, 2020. Call for bid can be viewed on CCCCC website.

The tender will be funded by part of proceeds received as financing by the CCCCC from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) toward the cost of the Water Sector Resilience Nexus for Sustainability in Barbados project, shortened as WSRN S-Barbados.
