Japanese solar power plant developer Pacifico Energy has commenced construction of a 42 MW solar PV project in Japan. The project location is in the Tohoku region in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.

Iwaki Mega Solar Power Plant will be constructed over next 23 months with modules provided by Chinese PV module maker Trina Solar. The EPC contractor for the project is Toyo Engineering Corporation. The system is expected to come online in August 2019.

All clean energy generated by the plant will be sold to Tohoku Electric Power Company. Once it is completely operational, the plant is expected to generate around 48 million kWh of solar power annually.

Pacifico Energy is already working on construction of the 257.7 MW Sakuto Mega Solar Power Plant in Minmasaka City in Okayama Prefecture. It will be the country's largest solar power generation plant once online (see Japan's Largest PV Project Started).

"Leveraging know-how and experience gained through developing, constructing, and operating utility scale solar power plants all over the world, and in collaboration with the communities of Fukushima, we shall go forward constructing an environmentally friendly power plant," stated the company.
