Engie Won 165 MW Solar PV Capacity In French Auctions

French energy company Engie says it won 235 MW of solar and wind power capacity in the recently announced French renewable energy auctions that saw the Ministry of the Ecological and Inclusive Transition contracting over 1.7 GW capacity (see France Auctions 960 MW Solar Power Capacity).

Engie says it was the top grosser in solar tender with 165 MW capacity and secured another 70 MW of onshore wind projects. It will develop these projects in Nouvelle Aquitaine, PACA, Grand Est, Normandy and Hauts de France.

Under the innovative solar tender category, Engie won 4 projects which will be equipped with solar PV panels, storage solutions and predictive technology for solar power production.

Canada headquartered renewable energy company Boralex Inc. has also announced winning 4 projects in the French tenders with 70.4 MW capacity, comprising 15.4 MW and 12.5 MW ground mounted PV facilities the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Haute Loire, respectively. For all the project wins, Boralex says it will receive a feed-in-premium for a period of 20 years.

Another winner of these tenders that has identified itself is Neoen having won 66 MW of ground mounted solar PV farms. Neoen says it will own the projects and two of these will be crowdfunded. It plans to commission these projects between 2021-end and the beginning of 2022.
