Sharp and Energia Future partner for solar in Lithuania; Naturstrom completes 7.5 MW solar and storage park, in Germany; Ignitis terminates contract with Sun Investment for 170 MW solar in Poland; Axpo enters 10-year PPA with Obton for 11 MW PV in Germany; Capital Energy raises €50 million for solar and wind in Spain.

Sharp announces solar partnership in Lithuania: Sharp Energy Solutions Europe and local solar EPC company Energia Futura have joined hands to capture residential and small commercial solar systems business in Lithuania. The initial projects are to be installed across various sites for various segments before the end of 2022. Without identifying exact capacity they plan to launch, Sharp said they will initially cooperate on a few MW of volume for several systems across the country.

Solar & storage project in Germany: German green energy company Naturstrom has completed a 7.5 MW solar project with an integrated storage component, its 1st such facility, in Germany's Henschleben, Thuringia. The solar park is designed to generate around 7.4 million kWh annually and has been producing electricity from some 17,000 PV modules since October 2021. Now the company has added the storage tank on leased land which was previously a landfill site. The battery storage system can store more than 1,000 kWh of green electricity. "To do this, it absorbs peak yields at midday and releases them late in the evening or early in the morning. It thus enables a more even feed-in throughout the day and thus contributes to relieving the grid," said Naturstrom.

Ignitis scraps deal for 170 MW solar: Lithuanian energy company Ignitis Group's renewable energy arm Ignitis Renewables has terminated its contract with Sun Investment Group to acquire up to 170 MW portfolio of solar PV projects under development in Poland. Ignitis said the contract is being cancelled with mutual consent as no projects were awarded contracts for difference (CfD) in the last auction. It will get back advance payments made to the developer. Ignitis counts its green generation projects under construction and development portfolio counting up to 1.4 GW, and installed capacity as 1.2 GW.

Axpo enters PPA for 11 MW solar park: Axpo of Switzerland has entered a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Denmark's Obton A/S for 11 MW under construction Klatzow Solar Park in Germany's Mecklenburg-Vorpommern near Neubrandenburg. The 10-year contract will come into effect on project commissioning that's due in Spring 2022. This deal marks the entry of Obton into the PPA business in Germany. It was awarded under innovation tender of Germany's Federal Network Agency under Renewable Energies Act (EEG).

Capital Energy raises funds for RE in Spain: Spanish energy company Capital Energy has raised €50 million from Eiffel Investment Group, as an extension of the bond facility closed for the same amount by the latter in Q1/2021. Capital Energy will use the proceeds to fund 5 additional projects, including 4 onshore wind farms and a solar PV project, with 202 MW combined capacity in Spain's Castile-La Mancha (Cuenca). All these 5 projects are expected to generate a combined 590,000 MWh of clean energy annually. Capital Energy touts its renewable energy portfolio as amounting to around 34 GW in Spain and Portugal out of which more than 8 GW has already secured grid access rights.
