Endesa provisional winner of 935 MW in Spanish tender: The Ministry of Fair Transition in Spain has provisionally granted Endesa the connection right for 953 MW capacity with possibility to expand the capacity to 1.2 GW. Endesa won the tender in Andorra through its renewable energy subsidiary Enel Green Power Espana. Endesa has proposed to develop a hybrid renewable energy project on location, that once hosted a coal-fired plant, comprising storage and green hydrogen as well. To build 5 solar and 5 wind power plants in a hybridized scheme with storage will require over €1,200 million.
100% renewables powered Greece on October 7, 2022: The Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) of Greece says on October 7, 2022, for 5 hours, Greece was 100% renewable energy powered with a generation capacity of 3.016 GW. In a LinkedIn post, IPTO said it was the 1st time in the history of the Greek electricity system to have a fully renewable energy powered grid.
120 MW solar changes hands in Poland: Germany's IBC Solar has sold 2 solar parks with 120 MW combined capacity in Poland to Afcon Renewable Energy of Israel. Both the facilities are at an advanced development stage. Afron will complete the project development up to ready-to-build (RTB) level. The German company said it has a project development capacity of over 600 MW in Poland and is being continually expanded. "The signing of the contract is the kick-off of our joint project activities with Afcon, which may be extended to other countries as well," said Chief Sales Officer (CSO) of IBC SOLAR AG, Patrik Danz.
Estonian company raises €200 million: Estonian independent power producer (IPP) Sunly has raised €200 million to build and expand its wind and solar portfolio in the Baltics and Poland that adds up to 17.9 GW. The capital was raised from the company's existing shareholders and a new one. Mirova is an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers and it has now become the largest investor in Sunly. The company will deploy the proceeds to further develop its pipeline in the specific geographies over the next 2 years. It will also expand its team from 135 people now to 400 people in the coming years.
Boralex commissions crowdfunded French solar farm: Canada headquartered Boralex has commissioned a 9 MW AC solar farm, calling it the largest PV production facility in the Haute-Loire department of Auvergne- -Rhône-Alpes region in France. It won the project in the CRE 4 solar tender round in France and has 20-year feed-in-premium (FIP) contract. Equipped with over 28,000 solar panels, the project will meet 10% of the energy needs of the town of Puy-en-Velay. The project was crowdfunded with the company raising €844,000 in less than 3 weeks or 40% of the capital required for the project.
